Nowadays all of us are nearly constantly on the move – traveling by car and plane, by bus or train or ship. What we often forget in this situation is that through this mobility we also are continuously emitting CO₂ (carbon dioxide) into our environment. Researchers at the University of Sydney have calculated that global tourism is responsible for eight percent of all CO₂ emissions of mankind.

But what exactly does that mean for each individual?
With which measures can I positively influence my own CO₂ footprint?

ANYONE CAN PROTECT THE CLIMATE – YOU JUST HAVE TO START

Avoiding CO₂ emissions completely is always the best solution: Instead of a business trip, a video conference may be sufficient. Reducing emissions is the second best solution. A trip from Hamburg to Munich by train does not take much longer than a flight. Offsetting CO₂ is the third best solution. Nevertheless, travel with CO₂ compensation is still better for the climate than travel without compensation.
