WHAT DOES MY TRIP HAVE TO DO WITH CO2?
Nowadays all of us are nearly constantly on the move – traveling by car and plane, by bus or train or ship. What we often forget in this situation is that through this mobility we also are continuously emitting CO2 (carbon dioxide) into our environment. Researchers at the University of Sydney have calculated that global tourism is responsible for eight percent of all CO2 emissions of mankind.
But what exactly does that mean for each individual?
With which measures can I positively influence my own CO2 footprint?
ANYONE CAN PROTECT THE CLIMATE – YOU JUST HAVE TO START
Avoiding CO2 emissions completely is always the best solution: Instead of a business trip, a video conference may be sufficient. Reducing emissions is the second best solution. A trip from Hamburg to Munich by train does not take much longer than a flight. Offsetting CO2 is the third best solution. Nevertheless, travel with CO2 compensation is still better for the climate than travel without compensation.
OUR CLIMATE PROTECTION PROJECTS
We know our way around environmental and climate protection. We support worldwide reforestation projects and plant trees for every trip, private or business. Each tree binds about 10 kg CO2 per year from our atmosphere. We combine our sustainable projects with a PLUS+ of sustainability. In this way, our reforestations simultaneously protect unique ecosystems and promote social and economic development in the project region. We publish current information, awards and certifications for all planting partners on our website, providing you with a transparent overview of important information.
Become sustainably active together with your travel provider and support a selected reforestation project. We provide a transparent platform online and free of charge to every tourism business.
